Before Matt Simpson was a founding member and the group guitarist of West End Comedy, Matt was kicked out of a 3rd grade production of The Wizard of Oz. He took a long break from acting to nurse his wounds, only to return to the stage in August of 2009 when he began doing improv in Richmond. Thanks to many years of performing music comfortably on stage, it was simply a matter of making Matt funny—a job undertaken by some of Richmond’s funniest improvisers, including James Wasilewski, with whom Matt shares the stage. So far, he deems this project as a success. Matt graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in 2007 with a degree in history and German language and is currently on the staff at the Virginia Holocaust Museum. When not doing comedy or working, he is usually playing guitar, watching sports, or trying to get people to run errands for him. Matt hates showering and shaving.
